And here was me looking forward to getting my socks off again....
Not a chance!
It's just rained and rained and rained. And blown a gale of wind. And then rained some more.
Oh well, I suppose it is winter :(
However, met some nice people in the marina, read lots.
Scabby has been quite a diversion.
Mike is beginning to become like a caged lion eek!
I don't even have any photos to put on the blog.
Boring.
The further travels of sailing yacht Phantom Lady. We are leaving Penzance, Cornwall on or about the 18th August 2010 bound for the Caribbean via France, Spain, Portugal and the Canaries. This is to keep all our friends and aquaintances back home updated with our adventures. Watch this space........

Ever been seasick in a marina??
Well, it's a new one on me!
There's an almighty low in the atlantic and we are in for at least three days of rain and wind and generally nasty weather.
The big swell is working its way into the marina and making life rather difficult on board.
For example, I couldn't even put my mascara on this morning without poking myself in the eye!
The swell is bouncing the boat around and she is snatching at the ropes constantly.
Stepping off onto the finger pontoon is now officially an extreme sport :(

will she/won't she........???
Oh dear. Captain Mike is applying pressure......he wants me to sail across to the caribbean with him instead of my customary flying.
He's even stooping so low as to use the cat to try to blackmail me!!
Part of me likes the idea of just the two of us sailing across together (plus the cat of course). But I seriously question whether I could handle it psychologically.
I am delighted to learn it is snowing at home. Although I must admit its been a little cooler than usual here today - I've had to put a cardigan on tonight :)
Mike has been cycling so much he has worn out the tyres on his bike and is sick of constantly fixing punctures. He is looking to buy some serious 'off road knobblys' when we get to somewhere with a decent bike shop.
I am pretty disappointed that I can't get the super 'all singing all dancing' wifi booster aerial thingy that we bought to work with my laptop. Something to do with drivers not being compatible with my operating system blah blah or some such mumbo-jumbo. However, Mike is delighted because it works with his so it means he gets to go on the internet all the time from the comfort of his bed/sofa/toilet etc whist I still have to perch on the foredeck during the hours of darkness. Typical.

Back to the sun :)
After a great weekend spent with my brother and sister-in-law I'm back on the boat (and ready to get blogging!)
The journey back was easy and uneventful despite the 4am start (thanks for the lift guys)
I swear the kitten has more than doubled in size in three weeks......
The cat gave me a little present.......ringworm (aaaargh)
Apparently its not a worm at all - just a fungus. In fact it's the same fungus that causes athletes foot.
First day back and I had so much hand washing to do that the water pump on the boat packed up.
Cue much gnashing of teeth, cursing and lifting of floorboards.

I'm all shopped out!!
All this retail therapy is VERY tiring :)
Not to mention draining on the old bank balance.
Thank goodness we don't do Christmas! It's a decision we made a lot of years ago and although people sometimes look at us askance we are very glad to be 'we don't do Christmas' people.
Mike is back on the boat in Agadir and our friend Alan (plus mystery companion) is tied up next to us in the marina :) ..... well his boat is.....it's just a figure of speech ok?
In other news....got an email from our friends Norman and Sara to say that they have reached New Zealand on their round the world sailing trip. Well done to them! XX

and another thing.....
Not sure what we will be doing for the rest of the winter. Except for one thing.....
Surfing the web - yeah! (I know, it's sad isn't it?)
All kitted out for picking up long-range signals now. No excuses for neglecting the blog!
essential supplies |
Flying back to Agadir on 22nd.
Watch this space people!!
A message to the faithfull
Ooooh it's my age.....is there one 'L' in faithful or two????
Never mind, I digress.
Well, I've now recovered from my nasty cold and am starting the visiting rounds.
It's real nice to see people I haven't seen in a while........
But I do really miss living on the boat. It's just so relaxing (and I love the sun too!)
My cat has finally forgiven me for leaving her haha
Mike has gone back to Morocco (via a job in Aylesbury)
Paypal has finally reinstated our account (oh it's a long, long story....)
All is well with the world :)

Home Sweet Home?
Well, that was quite a strenuous journey. And to cap it all bloody Ryanair didn't have any catering on the flight from Marrakach to Bristol. Not even a cup of coffee!! Some crap excuse about delays and missing their slot blah blah blah......
Surprisingly, it doesn't actually feel too cold. But then again, we've got a lot more clothes on.
I'm feeling 'fluey' and Mike is looking at return flights on the internet!
