SAILING IS SOOOOOO BORING!

Offshore sailing is 95% boredom and 5% shouting.
You can be twiddling your thumbs for hours and just when you decide to go for a lie-down, read, pee etc Mike will decide he urgently needs to do something that involves all the crew and lots of shouting instructions or something will go drastically wrong and all hell breaks loose for 10 minutes.

I have decided I really don't like sailing, especially offhore and overnight.
Some sailors prefer the nights, they say you can see all the lights of other vessels clearly. Me, I just hate the dark. The sea makes me feel small and helpless, even when its benign.

One thing that is beautiful is the phosphorescence you sometimes see at night. It's a heatless light given off by living organisms such as marine plants and animals. It can be a stunning sight when kicked up by the wake of a boat in the moonlight.

Watched the film Inglourious Basterds to pass a bit of time and I was surprised by how good it was (or perhaps anything seems good when you're bored haha)
